Imagine the confusion of police officer Carlo Mastromattei, who, instead of a pet or stray dog, found a small, lonely, frightened coyote puppy on a rather busy highway.

In the US, prairie wolves are considered pests. Cats, small dogs and livestock suffer from these animals, so a decent reward is due for shooting coyotes in a number of states. But does a normal person raise a hand against such a baby? Caring police officer goes above and beyond to save the lonely coyote pup

The puppy was very lucky that this policeman came to the call, and not someone who would calmly use a service weapon. First, Carlo looked around. He didn’t see the puppy’s mother. And he realized: he can’t leave a coyote in trouble.

What to do with the foundling was explained to him by phone by Lisa Cutting, the owner of the local dog shelter. Caring police officer goes above and beyond to save the lonely coyote pup

Put on gloves, take the puppy, wrap it in a rag or towel, keep it until morning in a safe place. Such a place turned out to be the house of Carlo’s girlfriend, where the rescued puppy sat until morning in a box.

In the morning, a police officer took the baby coyote to the wildlife clinic. There, the puppy was examined and sent to a rehabilitation center, where the animals are observed for some time, and then released into the wild. Caring police officer goes above and beyond to save the lonely coyote pup

The puppy was named after his savior. It is not known how the fate of the four-legged Carlo will develop in the wild, but we want to believe that this coyote was really born under a lucky star.
